Man Accused of Repeatedly Molesting Child Under 14 Denies Allegations

A 44-year-old San Angelo man has been accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 14 on a continual basis since “the 100th day of school” this year, resulting in his arrest last week on a first-degree felony charge.

The investigation into Larry Paul Ramos, the accused perpetrator, began when the child victim made an outcry to officer Cathy Delaughter at the San Angelo Police Department on March 18.

According to a complaint written by SAPD Detective Bobby Elrod, the child told forensic interviewer Melody Jeter that Ramos had repeatedly sexually assaulted her from approximately Feb. 11 to March 15.

Ramos later consented to an interview with detective Elrod and admitted that he had had access to the child during the time frame the abuse is alleged to have occurred, but stated that he had had no sexual contact with the girl. Instead, Ramos told detectives that she had asked him to inappropriately touch her in the past.

Ramos was booked into the county jail on April 9, when Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies picked him up on an arrest warrant. He was held for two days and was released on Saturday after posting a $30,000 surety bond through a bail bondsman.

Continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 is a first-degree felony punishable by 25 to 99 years in prison and an optional $10,000 fine.

Ramos has no prior felony convictions in Tom Green County.
