Sex Offender and Accused Child Molester Jailed on Thursday

Two men, one convicted of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl and one accused of continually sexually abusing a child under the age of 14, were booked into the county jail on Thursday, both picked up on warrants by local law enforcement.

Curtis Edward Lee, 55, was jailed for failing to register as a sex offender. Lee was placed on deferred adjudication on June 2, 2004 after pleading guilty to sexual assault of a 16-year-old child, a second-degree felony. As part of the plea, a second-degree charge of indecency with a child sexual contact was dismissed. Lee was also made to register as a sex offender for 10 years, but in 2005 failed to do so, resulting in a conviction on a fail to register charge that landed him a one-year state jail sentence.

At the same time, on Feb. 17, 2005, Lee went to court for a motion to revoke probation hearing after he was filed on for committing forgery and having contact with a child under 18, both of which are violations to his probation. Lee plead true to the allegations and was sentenced to six years in prison.

As a result of the conviction, Lee is required to register as a sex offender on an annual basis, however has not done so for 2015 and as a result a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was picked up by the San Angelo Police Department on Thursday afternoon.

Larry Paul Ramos, 44, was picked up on a warrant for sexual abuse of a child continuous, victim under 14. Jail records indicate the alleged abuse took place at least once on Feb. 11 this year.

In addition to Lee and Ramos, 30 more inmates were booked on Thursday, including two jailed on manufacture/delivery charges as well as two charged with driving while intoxicated and public intoxication. One person apiece was booked for marijuana possession, assault and resisting arrest.

Thirty-seven inmates were released on Thursday.
