A 45-year-old sex offender was put behind bars on Wednesday evening, when he was picked up on a warrant out of Brown County for failing to register as a sex offender.
Eddie Hernandez was convicted of sexual assault in 2002 and was sentenced to eight years on Nov. 14. DPS records show his victim was a 38-year-old woman.
Hernandez has an extensive record in Tom Green County, including convictions for reckless conduct, family violence, driving while intoxicated and attempting to elude, among others.
In addition to Hernandez, 26 others were put behind bars on Wednesday, eight of which were booked on offenses alleged to have been committed within the last 24 hours.
Of those, one apiece was booked for public intoxication, theft and assault. One other woman, 39-year-old Martha Carrillo Moreno, was charged with injury to a child/elderly/disabled person.
The remainder were booked on a variety of warrants including those for theft, drug possession and other offenses.
Twenty-five were released on Wednesday.
