Man Sentenced to Nearly 30 Years after Using Tango to Entice Teen Girls

MIDLAND— A 37-year-old west Texas man, who was a previously convicted sex offender, was sentenced to 29 years and seven months in federal prison on March 19 for coercing and enticing a minor.

This sentence resulted from an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Kenneth Simon Brzoznowski, from Midland, was also ordered to be placed under supervised release for 10 years after he completes his federal prison term. On Oct. 17, 2014, Brzoznowski pled guilty to using a cell phone to entice a minor female to engage in sexual activity.

According to court records, Brzoznowski used a phone application called "Tango" to have a sexually explicit conversation with a female minor. This application was discovered by Brzoznowski's parole officer. Brzoznowski was previously incarcerated in 2005 for attempting to meet a 13-year-old girl to have sex.

"Part of HSI's mandate is to protect children in our community from predators who want to harm them," said Waldemar Rodriguez, special agent in charge of HSI El Paso. "We aggressively pursue this mission."
