Only 12 individuals were booked into the county jail on Monday for offenses committed that day, six of whom were booked on felony charges.
Five of the six were jailed on drug-related offenses, including three charged with state jail felony possession of a controlled substance >/=1 gram<4 grams. Adrian Antonio Sarzosa, 29, Charles Michael Short, 55, and Lorena Reyes Martinez, 43, all could face 180 days to two years in a state jail if convicted of the possession charge. They could all be fined up to $10,000 if convicted.
The remaining two booked on drug-related offenses, 53-year-old Joseph Eugene Short and 26-year-old James Edward Fox Walker, have been charged with first-degree manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance >4 grams</=200 grams. If convicted, both could be assessed a fine of up to $10,000 and sentenced to 5-99 years in prison.
Monday's final felony offender, 21-year-old Jair Detric Cobbs-Presswood, was picked up by the ASU police and booked on one count of assault on a family member intentionally/recklessly impeding breath or circulation, a third-degree felony. The charge carries a punishment range of 2-10 years confinement and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
Other offenses committed on Monday include another assault, one evading arrest, one theft and one individual charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest and terroristic threat against a public servant.
A total of 38 individuals were booked into the jail on Monday, 26 of which were booked on warrants or commitments. Some of the warrants pertain to charges of theft, fraud, DWI, burlgary, and injury to a child/elderly/disabled person. Commitments include five for marijuana possession, one for theft, one for DWI and one for dangerous drugs.
Twenty-five individuals were released on Monday.
