AMARILLO-- The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Sunday on IH-40, yielding 25 pounds of marijuana valued at over $90,000 along with 12 ounces of hashish with a value over $6,000.
At approximately 2:32 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Bushland in Potter County.
The occupants of the Elantra were identified as Heidi J Hilts, 19, of Norman, Okla., and Joshua D Babbs, 23, of Moore, Okla. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 29 bundles of marijuana along with the hashish in the vehicle.
Both occupants were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana over five pounds but less than 50 pounds, a second-degree felony, along with possession of a controlled substance over four grams, but less than 400 grams, a second-degree felony, and booked into the Potter County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Riverbank, Calif., to Oklahoma City.
