Drug Dealer Busted with a Pound of Meth was Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison

A San Angelo drug dealer was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Jan. 13, after pleading guilty to possession of over 400 grams, or about a pound, of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.

Isaac Alvarado Mejia, 37, was busted with the meth on Aug. 15, when TxDPS investigators executed a search warrant on his house in the 7900 block of Gardenia Ave., in Grape Creek.

Arriving at approximately 7:15 a.m., DPS agents entered Mejia’s house and located a vacuum-sealed baggie with another bag inside that was full of a white crystal-like substance, a complaint filed with the court states.

After the substance field-tested positive for meth, agent R. Basham weighed the bag on a digital scale, which came out to 473.7 grams, including packaging.

Four hundred grams of meth is approximately equal to two cups of granulated sugar. If it were sugar, one could bake five dozen cookies with that quantity.

Mejia consented to an interview after the seizure and admitted to owning the product; he also told Basham that he’s been dealing meth in San Angelo for an undisclosed period of time, the complaint states.

A handwritten narcotic ledger and a pile of $900 cash in Mejia’s master bedroom corroborated his account.

Following the interview, Mejia was transported to the Tom Green County Jail, where he was booked for manufacture/deliver of a controlled substance.  Due to the amount of meth he possessed with the intent to deliver, Mejia was charged with an aggravated first-degree felony, whose punishment range begins at 15 years and extends to life.

Mejia remained in jail from Aug. until his plea hearing on Jan. 13. At the time of his arrest, he was working as a driller for Acacia Drilling. He has no prior record in Tom Green County, and a police report indicates he was born in Fresno, Calif.

On Jan. 13, Mejia pled guilty possession with the intent to deal in Judge Ben Woodward’s Court and was sentenced to 18 years in the TDCJ.

Big Daddy:

I disagree with the 'oil field trash' label. I consider it more of an issue of association with Walter White, Gus Fring, and Jesse Pinkman. LMAO!
