Odessa Babysitter Accused of Assaulting Child Arrested in San Angelo

An Odessa woman, wanted by police for allegedly assaulting a 4-year-old child she babysat, was apprehended by the San Angelo Police Department early this morning and booked into the county jail.

Photos of Magin Worley, 20, have circulated in social media for over two weeks now, as news reports released information on the alleged assault, stating Worley is accused of slapping the boy so hard he bled.

According to CBS7, the child was dropped off at Mama Bear’s Cottage daycare center in Midland with bruises. The television station also reported that the child’s mother had provided police with text messages from Worley that indicated she had, in fact, slapped the 4-year-old.

Following a three-week investigation, a warrant was issued for Worley’s arrest, and she was ultimately booked into the Tom Green County Jail at just after 5 a.m. Tuesday for injury to a child/elderly/disabled person with intentional bodily injury. The television station reported the arrest came as a result of a Crime Stoppers tip.

Worley’s offense is a third-degree felony, and if convicted, she could be punished to 2-10 years confinement and an optional $10,000 fine.

Child abuse is one of the most despicable crimes an adult can commit. There is no justification for striking a child ever. Hopefully she will be unable to make bail. Society will not miss her.
