The victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday a mile south of Abilene on Highway 277 has been identified as 50-year-old Filomeno Salas Jr., DPS authorities report.
The shooting occurred while Salas was on his way to work, an Abilene news agency reports, in the early morning hours of Sept. 3.
Salas is reported to have been shot in his vehicle, a black pickup, northbound on 277. “Authorities have confirmed that there were several bullet holes in the driver’s side window,” Big Country Homepage states.
Further information on the incident and any potential suspects has not yet been relayed by DPS Troopers, who are handling the investigation. DPS is asking that any witnesses traveling that stretch of highway on the morning of Sept. 3 contact the authorities immediately with the information.
