Donation Site Set Up to Aid Family of Child Victim

A donation site has been set up for the family of Naiya Villegas, the 5-year-old victim of a homicide committed in the 2700 block of Houston St. Tuesday morning.

Police identified Villegas and her mother, Tanya Bermea, Tuesday afternoon, when they disclosed the details of the murder and assault that occurred at roughly 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 2.

Villegas's gofundme page had been up for approximately two hours on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., and had already garnered a following of some 40 supporters pledging $1,788.

By Wednesday morning at 11:00, $8,762 had been raised by 232 supporters.

The goal, the gofundme page states, is to reach $5,000 to aid the Bermea family as they mourn the loss of the little girl.

Word on Facebook is that the San Angelo Logan's is also taking donations, which will be handed to the family to support the cost of funeral arrangements and other expenses. One should ask to speak to a manager to contribute.

Donations to the family may be made by clicking here.
