Man Caught with Meth on Assault Call

A 30-year-old San Angelo man was arrested for drug possession late Friday night after police were called to investigate an assault in progress.

On July 11, just after 9:30 p.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the area of Dallas and Van Buren Streets for the report of a man assaulting a female while walking near the roadway.  While enroute to the call, police received additional information that the parties were walking towards the Dollar General Store.

Upon arrival, police located a male and female who matched the description of the suspect and victim, walking near the 1800 block of Freeland Street.  Police spoke with the alleged victim, a 24-year-old San Angelo resident, and she denied the assault.

During a field investigation, police learned that the male suspect, identified as Jimmy Carrasco, Jr., 30, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Carrasco was subsequently charged with Felony 3 Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
