San Angelo Motorcycle Officer Chases and Arrests Evading Suspect

At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, San Angelo Police Officer John Palmer observed a white 2010 Mitsubishi Galant with an expired inspection sticker in the 2600 block of Sunset Dr.    Officer Palmer immediately activated the motorcycle’s emergency lights and sirens, however; the driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

You could hear the cycle's sirens over Palmer’s cool, low voice in his calls to dispatch over the radio giving position reports.

The suspect continued to flee by traveling south on Sunset Dr. towards Knickerbocker and by running the red light while turning left onto Knickerbocker.  The suspect continued to flee while traveling east on Knickerbocker and reached speeds of 55 mph in an attempt to evade Officer Palmer.  The pursuit ended as the vehicle turned right onto Industrial Dr. and then into the Stadium Oaks Apartment Complex parking lot.  Officer Palmer was able to arrest the suspect at this time without any further incident.

The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Daniel Blackburn of San Angelo.   Blackburn was the only occupant of the vehicle and no vehicles were damaged or persons injured as a result of the pursuit or the arrest.  Blackburn was wanted for two Tom Green County Warrants and was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention by Vehicle and received citations for Driving While License Suspended, Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection, and Disregard Traffic Signal.
