Criminal's Lack of Fitness Adversely Affects Getaway Plans

Physical fitness is important, especially if you’re planning to be involved in a footrace. Even more so if it’s the law you’re trying to outrun.

Julian R. Hinojas, as it turns out, was just not fit enough yesterday, when Officer Barker of the SAPD Traffic Saftey Program initiated a stop in the 0 block of W. 17th Street for an out of date inspection sticker.

Upon being stopped, Hinojas (37), jumped out of the vehicle and fled to the north, but he didn’t make it too far. Barker had immediately called in for reinforcements and Hinojas was quickly captured.

As it would turn out, Hinojas had outstanding county and city warrants, which he was charged and booked for when taken to Tom Green County Jail. Police also found that Hinojas didn’t have a valid driver’s license, and discovered a small silver marijuana pipe in his front pocket. As a result, Hinojas received Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia and Evading Arrest/Detention charges as well.
