Police Say Red-Light Runner Caused College Hills Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX — Two drivers were hospitalized Monday after a crash at the intersection of College Hills Boulevard and West Avenue N in San Angelo.

The crash happened about 12:20 p.m. According to police at the scene, a northbound Cadillac XTS on West Avenue N ran a red light and was struck by an eastbound Lexus sedan crossing College Hills toward West Beauregard Avenue. The impact spun the Cadillac across the intersection, but it did not strike any signal poles or nearby structures.

Each vehicle had only a driver inside. Officers said both drivers appeared to suffer non-incapacitating injuries, likely from the airbag deployment and steering-wheel impact, and were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Police said the driver of the Cadillac will be cited for disregarding a red light, causing the crash.
