Fire Triggers Evacuation at ASU Dorm

SAN ANGELO, TX — A fire inside a residence hall at Angelo State University prompted an emergency response and student evacuation Sunday evening.

It happened around 8 p.m., and emergency dispatch audio stated that the fire began in a dryer unit at Centennial Village, a student dormitory located at 1901 Rosemont Drive. The San Angelo Fire Department responded with multiple engines alongside university police and other first responders.

Dozens of students were seen gathered outside the building as fire crews worked to contain the incident. No injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control.

Officials have not yet confirmed the extent of the damage, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
