Children Taken to Hospital After Car Crashes Leaving Garage Sale

SAN ANGELO, TX — Two children were taken to the hospital for evaluation Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash on Lake Drive near West 33rd Street, according to San Angelo Police.

The crash happened after a white Honda Civic, which had been parked on the side of Lake Drive for a nearby garage sale, attempted to reenter the roadway and turn onto West 33rd Street. A northbound black Ford Maverick struck the Civic as it pulled into traffic, police said.

The Honda’s driver and three children—ages 7, 5, and 1—were inside the vehicle at the time of the collision.

The driver was evaluated and released at the scene. The children were transported to the hospital for evaluation. Police said the one-year-old briefly lost consciousness after the impact but had regained awareness. The five-year-old also sustained injuries, likely caused by the car seat, though none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

Police said the driver of the Civic is expected to be cited for failing to yield the right of way when entering the road from a private drive.
