Five Children, Two Adults Hospitalized After Driver Runs Stop Sign

SAN ANGELO, TX – Five children and two adults were hospitalized after a driver ran a stop sign and crashed into an SUV on Jackson Street Sunday afternoon, police said.

It happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Avenue J and South Jackson Street. 

San Angelo police initially responded to what was believed to be a minor crash, but the call was upgraded when those involved reported injuries, police said.

Police said that the driver of a Toyota Corolla was heading north on Jackson Street when they failed to stop, colliding with a Toyota Highlander.

The driver and passenger of the Highlander along with five children inside were transported to the hospital. Authorities believe their injuries are minor.

The driver of the Corolla, who was found at fault for the crash, received multiple citations, including one for disregarding the stop sign.

No serious injuries have been reported.
