VIDEO: Texas Woman Killed by Police SUV While Crossing Road with Kids

HOUSTON, TX - Houston police released a dashcam and bodycam video of a deadly crash that happened earlier this year.

The identity of the deceased female, 41, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer Z. Radcliffe reported:

HPD North Patrol Division officers were in their marked patrol vehicle transporting an arrested suspect to the Joint Processing Center.  As they traveled northbound near the above address, the patrol vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway, not in a crosswalk. Officers immediately stopped and rendered assistance to the injured female.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the female to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Three of the female’s children with her at the time – a man, 18, and two juvenile females – were not injured.

A preliminary investigation indicates that speed is not believed to be a factor in the crash and that the pedestrian failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle.

The investigation is continuing. As is customary in incidents involving the death of a person in the presence of officers, the case is also being investigated by the Internal Affairs Division.
