VIDEO: Explosion at Goldsmith Facility Sends Shockwaves Across Odessa

GOLDSMITH, TX - An explosion occurred at a facility in Goldsmith, reportedly belonging to Duke Energy, according to scanner traffic and social media posts from nearby residents.

The incident was powerful enough to be felt in areas as far away as North and West Odessa, with some mistaking it for an earthquake.

Smoke from the explosion was visible from various parts of Odessa, including Pleasant Farms and along Highway 385.

Witnesses reported hearing and feeling a shockwave, with one individual describing a “low-hanging grey cloud” in the aftermath. Initial reports suggest the explosion originated from a pump house at the site, though confirmation of the facility’s operations and ownership remains pending.
