WATCH: Funeral Held to Raise Awareness of Texas Road Deaths

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Texes Department of Transportation hosted a mock funeral day in hopes to raise awareness of deaths on Texas roads. 

On November 7, the funeral, held at the Fairmount Cemetery, allowed multiple people speak on what they think will end Texas Road Deaths. 

Since November 7, 2000, there has been a fatality on a Texas road. With these number, TxDot is trying to raise awareness on how to lower these numbers. 

Speakers included Director of Operations for TxDot Tom Johnston, Emergency Medicine Physician & Medical Director Shannon AirMed Dr. Kelly Koenig, Sgt. Justin Baker with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Tom Green County Sheriff David Jones, San Angelo Police Department Sgt. Ken Solsbery, and Diane Weishuhn who shared her personal story of tragic loss in her family.
