Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at U.S. 87 and FM 2105

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo motorcyclist was killed Monday morning in a three-vehicle crash at U.S. Highway 87 and FM 2105, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported. 

The crash happened at 6:45 a.m. DPS said three vehicles were involved: a Chevrolet 2500 truck, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and a Chevrolet Trax. One person was killed, and two people were injured.

DPS identified the person killed as Douglas Molina Martinez, 56, of San Angelo. He was on the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced deceased by Judge Speck and later taken to Robert Massie Funeral Home. 

The truck driver, William Dugan Obryant, 62, of Carlsbad, was taken to Shannon Medical Center with minor injuries. Gene Edwards Perry, 75, of San Angelo, who was driving the Trax, was also taken to Shannon with minor injuries. 

A preliminary investigation found the motorcycle was traveling northbound on U.S. 87 while the truck was in the turnaround at U.S. 87 and FM 2105. DPS stated the truck driver did not see the motorcycle and failed to yield the right of way. The truck went through the intersection and struck the motorcycle, then struck the Trax, which was in the turn lane on FM 2105 waiting to enter U.S. 87. 

Weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. 

The crash is being investigated by Trooper Sanchez of the Texas Highway Patrol, with assistance from the San Angelo Fire Department, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Transportation. 

The sheriff’s office earlier asked motorists to avoid the 6000 block of North Highway 87 near FM 2105 while crews worked the scene. Traffic was diverted off at Chadbourne Street and back onto the highway near Apache Trail.
