SAN ANGELO, TX — A Jeep driver who said she pressed the accelerator instead of the brake rear-ended a Tom Green County sheriff’s deputy at a stoplight Monday in the 2000 block of Sherwood Way.
It happened at about 4 p.m. near the Pecos Street and Sherwood Way intersection.
The deputy was uninjured and was able to leave the scene. The westbound Jeep Liberty struck his stopped vehicle after the driver mixed up the pedals.
The driver received citations for failure to control speed, expired registration, and no insurance.
Officers said she appeared confused and struggled to understand instructions. Adult Protective Services was called to help her, and the Jeep was to be towed.
