THROCKMORTON, TX — A 43-year-old woman was killed Friday when her pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a commercial truck on U.S. Highway 183 in Throckmorton County, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.
Cheryl Lin Marrow of Throckmorton died from injuries sustained in the two-vehicle crash about 4 miles southeast of Throckmorton. She was the sole occupant of a 2006 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck traveling northbound at the time of the 12:50 p.m. collision.
According to a preliminary DPS investigation, Marrow entered the southbound lane in a designated no-passing zone and struck the left side of a 2024 Mack MD truck driven by Alexander Benjamin Garza, 31, of Bastrop. The impact tore off the driver’s door of Marrow’s vehicle.
Marrow, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to Throckmorton Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:53 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bobby Thompson. Garza, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured.
The posted speed limit was 55 mph. Weather was clear and the roadway was dry. No other injuries were reported.
