Pedestrian Struck by 18-Wheeler in Early

EARLY, TX — A pedestrian struck by an 18-wheeler early Tuesday was flown to a Fort Worth trauma center for treatment, the Early Police Department said.

The crash occurred at about 5:18 a.m. in the 1700 block of Early Boulevard. Early police, the Early Fire Department and Lifeguard EMS responded.

According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of the 18-wheeler saw the pedestrian at the last moment and tried to avoid contact but could not. Early morning lighting conditions made the pedestrian difficult to see while walking in the traffic lane, police said.

The pedestrian was taken by Air Evac helicopter to a trauma center in Fort Worth.
