GARZA COUNTY, TX — One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 84 and County Road 130 in Garza County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2008 Mercedes passenger car was traveling southeast on U.S. Highway 84 and began turning east onto County Road 130. At the same time, a 2025 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling northwest on U.S. Highway 84 approaching the intersection.
Investigators said the Mercedes crossed the northwest-bound lanes of the highway and pulled into the path of the Suburban, which struck the car.
The driver of the Mercedes, Robert Broselow, 87, of Southland, was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash. DPS said Broselow was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Suburban, Hector Marquez Meza, 37, of Snyder, was not injured. Three passengers — Maria Marquez, 36, and three children, ages 8, 6 and 3, all of Snyder — were also uninjured. DPS said all occupants of the Suburban were wearing seat belts.
The crash occurred under clear weather and dry road conditions. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.
The crash remains under investigation.
