Box Van Rolls Over on State Highway 208 in Coke County

COKE COUNTY, TX — A box van truck overturned in a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 208 South early Wednesday, prompting the closure of both lanes near a curve by The Ranch Venue.

The Coke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the rollover around 5:30 a.m. Deputies, the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department and Texas Department of Public Safety personnel remained on scene.

Officials closed both directions of the highway at 7 a.m. to clear the wreckage.

In a later update shared at about 9:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said emergency crews are working to clean up the site. The Texas Department of Transportation is attempting to reopen one lane of travel.

Motorists traveling to or from San Angelo are advised to use FM 2662 to U.S. Highway 277 as a detour. Further updates will be issued when the roadway reopens.
