Two Killed in Crash Outside of Cisco

 

EASTLAND COUNTY, TX — Two people were killed and one person was injured Friday afternoon in a head-on collision between a sport utility vehicle and a semi-truck on State Highway 6 northwest of Cisco, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

Douglas Hartley, 56, of Granbury, and Autumn Campbell, 44, also of Granbury, died in the crash at the intersection with Farm to Market Road 1853. Hartley was driving a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan northbound when the SUV crossed the center dividing line and struck a southbound 2000 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, the preliminary investigation found. 

Campbell, a passenger in the SUV, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. 

The truck driver, Yancarlos Vazquez, 37, of Red Rock, was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He was transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital. 

Hartley was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:41 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Jesse Spear. Campbell was pronounced dead at 3:51 p.m., also by Spear. 

The crash occurred in clear weather on dry roads. The posted speed limit is 75 mph. The investigation is continuing.
