One Killed in Lamb County Rollover Crash

LAMB COUNTY, TX — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning on U.S. Highway 84, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:34 a.m. about one mile northwest of County Road 267.

Preliminary information indicates a 2017 Freightliner truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling northwest on the highway in rainy conditions when it left the roadway into the center median. The vehicle then crossed the southeast lanes, entered a barrow ditch, reentered the roadway, and crossed both directions of traffic before entering the ditch again.

The truck and trailer began to side-skid, rolled over and came to rest on the driver’s side.

The driver, identified as Clodoaldo Faustino Salas, 54, of Socorro, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported.

The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph. Weather conditions were reported as rainy, and the roadway was wet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
