1 Dead, 4 Injured in Rollover Crash Outside Abilene

ABILENE, TX — A single-vehicle crash outside Abilene in the early morning hours of Sunday killed a 17-year-old and injured four others.

According to the Abilene Police Department, the crash occurred at about 12:52 a.m. Sunday, June 7, on West Lake Road near Lake Fort Phantom Hill north of Abilene.

A Toyota RAV4 was reportedly traveling southbound on the road when it drifted to the right and flipped over in a ditch.

Michael Menjarez of Abilene was killed in the crash, while the other four occupants in the vehicle were all taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined that intoxication didn’t appear to be a factor in the crash, but the investigation continues.
