Odessa Man Dies After Motorcycle Strikes Deer in Runnels County

 

RUNNELS COUNTY, TX — A 63-year-old Odessa man was killed Sunday night when his motorcycle struck a deer on a rural Runnels County road, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.  

Mickey Dale Mobley was traveling northbound on Farm-to-Market Road 2333, about 5 miles south of County Road 394, around 8:56 p.m., when his 2012 Yamaha motorcycle struck a deer crossing the roadway from left to right, DPS reported. 

The motorcycle tipped over and skidded off the right side of the road, ejecting Mobley. Mobley, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Shannon Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:14 p.m., according to the preliminary crash report the Texas DPS. 

The single-vehicle crash involved no other injuries. Weather conditions were clear, the roads were dry and the posted speed limit was 70 mph.
