Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on Sunset Drive

SAN ANGELO, TX — A man was hit by a car while crossing the road Thursday during lunch hour in San Angelo.

The incident occurred about 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Drive and Southwest Boulevard.

According to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department, a man was walking across Sunset when a Mitsubishi Mirage was turning right from Southwest onto Sunset.

The driver of the Mitsubishi failed to look right before she turned and hit the man.

It wasn’t a high-speed collision, but the pedestrian was an “older gentleman” who had a head injury when he hit the ground, the officer stated.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with injuries that didn’t seem life threatening, according to the officer.

The driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
