Teen Dies, Another Critical in Frisco Sledding Crash

FRISCO, TX — A 16-year-old girl died and another 16-year-old girl was critically injured Sunday afternoon when the sled they were riding struck a curb and collided with a tree in Frisco, police stated.

This happened around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court. Frisco police and fire personnel responded to a report of the crash and found the two juveniles with life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to local hospitals, where one succumbed to her injuries. The surviving girl remained in critical condition Sunday.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 16-year-old male was driving a Jeep Wrangler and pulling the two girls on a sled when the incident occurred. Witnesses reported the sled hit a curb before striking the tree.

The crash remains under active investigation with assistance from the Denton County District Attorney’s Office. Because the individuals involved are juveniles, no names or further identifying information will be released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Frisco Police Department at (972) 292-6010. Anonymous tips may be submitted by texting “FRISCOPD” and the tip to 847411 or through the department’s mobile app.

Police extended condolences to the affected families and reminded residents that snow and ice can create hazardous conditions, urging caution with outdoor activities until conditions improve.
