Driver Arrested After Dramatic Rollover Crash on Straight Stretch of Roadway

SAN ANGELO, TX – A driver was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers following a dramatic rollover crash on E. Valley Drive, just east of Rust Road, in northern Tom Green County this afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in broad daylight. The two vehicles involved were a Chevy compact SUV, which rolled over, and a Honda Pilot SUV. Witnesses and first responders noted that the roadway in the area is straight and level, prompting questions about how such a severe rollover could have happened under seemingly straightforward conditions.

According to reports overheard on emergency radio traffic, the rolled-over Chevy compact SUV had two occupants. It remains unclear which vehicle the arrested driver was operating.

On-scene observations confirmed that a DPS trooper placed one of the drivers—a female—in handcuffs and escorted her into a DPS cruiser. Details surrounding the arrest, including potential charges, have not been released at this time.

Emergency crews responded promptly to the scene, and the area was secured while investigators assessed the crash. No information on injuries to the occupants has been made available yet.
