Woman, 20, Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Comanche County

 

GORMAN, TX — A 20-year-old DeLeon woman died Monday evening when her SUV ran off State Highway 6, skidded across the roadway, and struck a tree in Comanche County, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported. 

Brandi Anne Leal was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Johnny Connie. 

According to a preliminary DPS investigation, Leal was driving northbound on SH 6 about 4.5 miles south of Gorman around 8:44 p.m. when the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe drifted off the right side of the pavement. The vehicle veered back onto the roadway, skidded across all lanes, then veered right again, left the road, and hit a tree on the passenger side. 

Leal was wearing a seatbelt. No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported. 

The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph. The weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
