Passenger Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-20

RANGER, TX — One passenger was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 20 in Eastland County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at about 4:55 p.m. Dec. 14 on I-20, about 7.6 miles east of Ranger. DPS reported that two vehicles were involved and one person was killed. No other fatalities were reported.

Authorities said a 2022 Ford F-250 pickup and a 2007 Ford Focus were traveling eastbound on I-20 near the 361-mile marker, side by side, when the crash occurred. DPS said the driver of the pickup failed to maintain a single lane and struck the Ford Focus.

The Ford Focus spun clockwise and collided again with the pickup before continuing off the south side of the roadway and overturning. A passenger in the pickup was ejected from the vehicle, DPS said.

Christopher JoAllen Rollins, 53, of Cleburne, was pronounced deceased at 5:47 p.m. by Dr. Rachael McCracken. DPS reported that Rollins was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the pickup, identified as Kristoffer Michael Dorsey, 49, of Waxahachie, was transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital with injuries. DPS said he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Jarvis Jeremiah Thomas, 20, of Dallas, was also transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital with injuries. DPS reported that he was not wearing a seat belt.

The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph. Weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash.
