SAN ANGELO, TX — A motorcycle crash Monday afternoon in San Angelo caused “severe” injuries to the driver.
The crash occurred about 4 p.m. in the 4300 block of Sunset Drive when the driver of a grey Chevy Tahoe left the parking lot at Academy Sports + Outdoors and pulled out in front of the motorcycle.
The collision sent the driver of the motorcycle onto the road, where blood was visible on the street, along with his shoes and parts of the motorcycle.
He was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Shannon Medical Center with severe injuries, according to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department who wasn’t sure if the injuries were life-threatening.
Initial reports on scanner traffic stated the driver had at least suffered a dislocated knee.
The officer said it appeared the driver of the Chevy failed to yield the right of way, but no citations would be issued until the investigation was complete.
The section of Sunset Drive between Sherwood Way and the Houston Harte frontage road was completely shut down after the crash.
