Beauregard, Abe Intersection Shut Down Due to Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX — A three-vehicle crash just before noon Thursday has shut down one of the busiest intersections in San Angelo.

The crash occurred about 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Beauregard Avenue and Abe Street.

Traffic is being diverted through parking lots while first responders attend to the occupants of the vehicles.

According to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department, a white Chevy Traverse headed south on Abe ran a red light, which caused the crash with a green Chevy 2500 and a red Jeep Cherokee.

The driver of the Traverse said she had a medical episode, which caused her to run the red light.

The officer said she had a history of strokes. He said she won't be given a citation if it's determined a medical issue was the cause of the crash, though the report will be sent to a medical board for review to determine if she should still be driving.

The woman, along with the driver of one of the other vehicles, were transported to the hospital.

A reporter is on scene gathering more information.
