Police: Five Juveniles Detained After Chase Ends in Crash at 7th and Irving

SAN ANGELO, TX — A 15-year-old male is facing charges after a stolen vehicle pursuit ended in a crash near West 7th Street and North Irving Street Sunday night, prompting a large police response and street closures.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, officers attempted to stop a green Kia Soul around 9:30 p.m. after it was reported stolen earlier in the day. The vehicle fled, and during the pursuit, it crashed and rolled on its side.

Five juveniles were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. All were taken into custody. Police said the 15-year-old driver was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center on a charge of evading arrest in a motor vehicle. The other four juveniles were released to their parents and currently face no charges.

The crash led to road closures from Chadbourne to North Bryant. Initial reports also indicated concerns about downed power lines and a possible gas line rupture. Atmos Energy responded to the scene as a precaution.

One person was taken to the hospital.
