SAN ANGELO, TX — A major two-vehicle crash shut down both lanes of FM 2288 near Bison Trail on Thursday afternoon, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office.
Two people were taken to the hospital, according to emergency dispatch audio.
The crash involved a silver Cadillac sedan and a black Jeep Rubicon. The Cadillac sustained heavy front-end and side damage, while the Jeep came to rest off the roadway with both passenger side wheels completely off the vehicle.

Both wheels were seen off of the Jeep Rubicon.
Emergency crews from the San Angelo Fire Department, Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene.
Radio traffic indicated that one person in the Cadillac had their legs pinned inside the vehicle, and one individual was reportedly unconscious, though it was unclear which vehicle they were in.
Shannon Medical Center's Airmed1 was initially requested but later canceled after first responders determined both patients could be transported by ground. Both were taken from the scene in one ambulance. The extent of their injuries remains unknown.
Authorities temporarily closed both directions of FM 2288 while they worked to investigate and clear the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
