Hit-and-Run Driver Leaves License Plate at Scene

SAN ANGELO, TX — A driver involved in a crash late Wednesday morning sped away from the scene while accidentally leaving their license plate lying on the road.

The crash occurred about 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Abe and 1st streets.

According to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department, a vehicle heading westbound on 1st Street was crossing Koenigheim Street and hit the back of a black car.

In addition to the crash occurring on one of San Angelo’s busiest roads, increasing the likelihood of witnesses and video surveillance, the hit-and-run driver’s license plate was also on the road next to the car that was struck.

The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured, the officer stated. Citations will be issued when the hit-and-run driver is located.
