SAN ANGELO, TX — Two young men from San Angelo were killed late Friday night in a high-speed crash near Wall following a police chase, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The wreck occurred around 9:55 p.m. on April 11, 2025, after a DPS trooper observed a white 2022 Dodge Challenger racing another vehicle southbound on U.S. Highway 87 south of San Angelo. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the Challenger fled, turning off the vehicle’s lights in an attempt to evade law enforcement.
Over the radio, those in the chase reported the Challenger reached speeds in excess of 110 mph before losing control near the intersection with Wilde Road. The vehicle struck a guardrail, went airborne, and then rolled several times before coming to rest in the median between the northbound and southbound lanes at the Wilde Road crossover.
All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle. Two passengers — Jesus Manuel Silva, 18, and Matthew Allen Reyes, 20, both of San Angelo — were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, identified as Jeydan Zane Sanchez-Ayala, 19, of Carlsbad, was seriously injured and transported to Shannon Medical Center.
DPS reported that the crash occurred on a dry roadway under clear nighttime skies. The posted speed limit in that area is 75 mph.
The incident remains under investigation.
