5-Vehicle Crash Creates Chaos at Knickerbocker, Sunset Intersection

SAN ANGELO, TX — A five-vehicle crash at a busy intersection caused a traffic headache Friday morning and sent at least two people to the hospital.

The crash occurred at about 11 a.m. at Knickerbocker Road and Sunset Drive, and it shut down all southbound lanes on Knickerbocker.

Two people were observed being loaded into an ambulance.

One of the vehicles suffered significant damage to the front after being caught in between two other vehicles, one of which was a truck with a grill guard.

According to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department, witnesses stated a dark green Kia SUV was heading north on Knickerbocker Road and ran a red light, which caused the crash.

The driver of the Kia was taken to the hospital, and an occupant in another vehicle was also being treated at the hospital. The severity of the injuries was unknown.

A medical issue may have contributed to the crash, the officer stated, and no citations have been issued yet.
