Fire Destroys San Angelo Home, Displaces Resident; Investigation Ongoing

SAN ANGELO, TX — A fire engulfed a home late Wednesday night, displacing a resident who was sent to the hospital.

It happened around 10 p.m. at a home located near the intersection of Clairmont and Van Zandt streets, leaving one person displaced and prompting an ongoing investigation into the cause.

Deputy Fire Marshal Eric Martinson confirmed that emergency crews were dispatched to a residential home, which sustained severe damage. He said the residence had to be demolished for safety reasons.

Martinson confirmed one injury but said he had not verified details about the severity of the burn wound. He also said that one person was transported to the hospital. Only one person was reported to be inside the residence.

Wind-driven embers from the fire spread to a nearby shed, causing additional damage, but the fire did not impact power lines in the area.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
