Oilfield Fire Reported in West Odessa

 

WEST ODESSA, TX – Crews are battling a large fire at a reclamation plant on the 10,000 block of West Murphy Street, which began shortly after 5:10 a.m. Friday.

The blaze, visible across the city, continues to produce heavy smoke.

Odessa Fire and Rescue, alongside Ector County Environmental Enforcement, responded to the fire early Friday morning. Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis confirmed the location of the fire near I-20 and Moss Avenue. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

No injuries have been reported, but authorities remain on the scene. The investigation into the fire is ongoing, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.

Residents are advised to avoid the area as crews work to contain the fire.
