DALLAS, TX — Two men were killed Monday afternoon when a McLaren luxury sports car split in half after striking a tree in the Lake Highlands area, according to police.
The crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. on Abrams Road, where the McLaren struck a tree, killing both occupants and splitting the vehicle into two pieces. First responders faced difficulty accessing the victims, prompting a heavy rescue operation, according to the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department.
The driver was identified as Cristobal Flores Espino, 29, and the passenger as Robert Rocha, 31, Dallas police said. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
One person from a second vehicle involved in the crash was transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries, officials said.
Footage captured by a WFAA showed the remains of what appeared to be a McLaren 570S. Authorities have not disclosed what led to the crash or the condition of the other driver involved.
