SAN ANGELO, TX— Traffic has been backed up at South Jackson Street and Knickerbocker due to a major crash.
Around 2:30 p.m., on December 3, 2024, the San Angelo Police Department issued a NIXEL alert informing drivers to avoid the intersection of South Jackson Street and Knickerbocker Road due to a vehicle accident.
According to San Angelo Police, a white Kia Forte was driving westbound on Knickerbocker Road and a red Lincoln was driving eastbound on Knickerbocker Road. The Lincoln was turning left onto South Jackson Street and was struck by the Kia Forte. The light from Knickerbocker was red and the Kia disregarded the light, striking the Lincoln.
There were two occupants involved, one in each vehicle, and both were transported to the hospital. The driver of the Lincoln had a leg injury due to the crash and the driver of the Kia was transported for precautionary reason.
The driver of the Kia will receive a citation for disregarding a red light.
