Teen Driver Killed in Crash with Suspected Drunk Driver in Odessa

 

ODESSA, TX - A 15-year-old boy was killed, and a 13-year-old passenger was seriously injured early Thursday morning in a crash at the intersection of 42nd Street and N.W. County Road in Odessa, according to police.

Authorities said a red 2018 Ford F-150, driven by Jonah Hurton, 19, collided with a 2011 Kia Sorento around 2:05 a.m. The teen driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the passenger was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries.

Police arrested Hurton, a resident of Odessa, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Additional charges are likely pending the ongoing investigation.

Officials revealed that the Kia Sorento had been reported stolen prior to the crash. Odessa police are asking anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.
