Man Dies After Car Strikes Utility Pole on US 277 in Haskell County

HASKELL, TX — A 43-year-old San Antonio man died early Monday after his vehicle veered off the road and struck a utility pole on US Highway 277, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

It happened just before 6 a.m. on Nov. 5, about two miles south of Haskell, Texas. Authorities identified the driver as Christopher Neal Reichenbach. DPS reported that Reichenbach was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Lynn Dodson.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Reichenbach’s 2013 Honda Accord was traveling northbound when it drifted off the east side of the highway, colliding with a utility pole. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph, and conditions at the time were clear and dry.

No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
