Brownwood Motorcyclist Killed After Losing Control, Struck by Oncoming Vehicle

 

BROWNWOOD, TX - A motorcyclist from Brownwood was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday night on State Highway 279, one mile north of Brownwood, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Michael Glenn Jacobs, 43, was riding a 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100 motorcycle when he lost control while navigating a sharp left curve at an unsafe speed. Jacobs collided with a guardrail and was ejected from the motorcycle, landing in the center of the road. He was then struck by a northbound motorist who was unaware of the crash. 

Jacobs, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased at the scene just before 8 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Teodoro Perez. DPS noted that road conditions were dry, and the weather was clear at the time of the crash. The posted speed limit is 60 miles per hour. 

No other injuries were reported.
