VERIBEST, TX — Texas DPS and a volunteer fire department were working a major crash near Veribest on N. Veribest Rd. about 2 miles north of FM 380. At the location of the crash, N. Veribest Rd. makes a sharp, left and then right turn.
From viewing the crash scene, it appeared that the red pickup truck was traveling too fast to negotiate the turn, ran off the prepared surface, and slammed into a tree. It did not appear from viewing the wreckage in the dark that the truck rolled over.
One the way to the crash scene, we passed an ambulance speeding west towards San Angelo escorted by DPS or sheriff’s deputies on FM 380. All were running hot with lights and sirens at a high rate of speed.
The crash happened at around 8:45 p.m. The weather was clear and roadways dry. DPS was investigating the cause of the crash.
